Our team is responsible for development of PowerACOUSTICS - Exa’s flagship acoustic analysis product. Engineers use PowerACOUSTICS to perform various numerical analyses on their PowerFLOW fluid simulation results, including:
- Predicting how much noise the wind fluctuations on a vehicle’s windows will produce inside the vehicle (given user-specified glass properties, cabin size, etc.)
- Predicting how sound from a noise source will travel over a distance (e.g. to assess the impact an airplane will have on community noise near the airport).
- Performing various general purpose calculations on fluid simulation results to help users analyze data in new ways (e.g. signal processing, statistical calculations, band-pass filtering, etc.)
- Generating graphs, audio files, and 3D datasets which enable engineers to view and/or listen to the predicted behavior in order to help guide engineering decisions.
As part of the PowerACOUSTICS development team, you’ll work closely with various domain experts (especially acoustic engineers) to design and build intuitive user interfaces and to craft efficient implementations of the underlying calculations (sometimes by way of parallel processing).
This is a small team so you’ll be making significant contributions to PowerACOUSTICS from day one and will be expected to take ownership of various portions of the product. As the team grows, there will also opportunities to provide technical leadership and mentoring to other developers.
Responsibilities:
- Implement new PowerACOUSTICS features and help maintain/evolve existing functionality
- Produce functional and technical designs which balance customer needs and implementation concerns
- Work with QA to ensure that the software is thoroughly tested
